The medical profession
This is me venting so I'm sorry if it offends. Doctors and nurses have a very important place in the world. They do help people, but when they stop listening to the patient that is when it gets ridiculous. I got sick again this week and had to go to the hospital to get IV fluids. I told her first thing I have bad veins the only ones who are able to find my veins are the NICU (very tiny baby) nurses. She said oh ok and stuck me once, twice, three times, blowing 3 veins the ones the NICU nurses get the first time, every time. So she goes out for help, comes back and says she is the most experienced person here so Chet says can you call the hospital they can get her veins. And the nurse says some bull about how they can't do it, and pokes me 3 more times. After this the doctor comes in to see how the IV was started and amazingly it hasn't been, so she calls the hospital and gets another nurse. I am so very, very enraged but I know if I don't get the IV started it will just get worse. So here I am the next day yelling at the top of my lungs if you are a health care 'professional' who abuses people for fun I HATE YOU.

And again . . .
Owen helped clean up the family room tonight so I had nothing to do when the kids went to bed. As the ultrasound day, April 8th, draws nearer I keep thinking about Owen and Lily's birthdays and I just wanted to do another page for Owen's.

Watching your husband morph into a dad before your eyes after giving birth to your first child for me was amazing. It was like he was glowing with joy.

I'm Back!!!
After a long break from scrapbooking I finally sat down to do a page because well if you don't start one you have no reason to keep coming back to finish it. I didn't think I missed it that much until I picked out the pictures and template I was going to use and next thing I know it's 9:30 pm and I'm done and nothing else in the house is. :)

Phone
Phone, phone, wonderful phone!!! (In my head I'm singing that :)) I have a phone again which means now I need to learn how to use another phone which is going to be interesting without any sort of manual. It's a Kyocera which I have never tried before and as of right now I'm still trying to use it like my old LG its not working :) Oh yeah and since I didn't just buy a new phone on a whim my was destroyed if you want to talk to me and your number wasn't magically in Chet's phone your going to need to call me because the numbers are all gone.
Little Daddy
Every once in a while I try to stop taking my anti-vomit pills because they give me raging headaches and I would love that to be gone. So I went without taking my pills and woke up this morning BAD. I got Owen up and I went straight to the bathroom to throw up. Owen went to the kitchen got the barf bucket gave it to me, went back to the kitchen got some cheese and then proceeded into Lily's room, he sat next to the crib giving her little pieces until I was done. He is such a good boy.

The un-exciting
I have the feeling I should blog more but I look at our life and think I'm going to disgust people. Starting with the worst Owen has been, to put it nicely, plugged in the restroom department. I took him to the doctor because I didn't want it to get any worse he was holding it in and crying about it (enough to break a mom's heart). They gave us a stool softener and said once there's movement :) you may need to play with the dosing to get it right for him. Well, today there was movement of the worst variety. Of course, Chet was at work and Owen said to me calmly Momma I go potty. No warning signs go off at all until he starts walking to the restroom crying. I go to lend moral support and when we get his pants off he is covered bum to ankle thank goodness for cuffs on his pants in . . . sewage. I sit him on the toilet and tell him to stay but his is so traumatized by the poo that he follows me because I went to get some wipes to clean-up the bathroom floor, toilet and contain everything. I flip, I'm pregnant give me some credit get him in the bathroom and put him in the tub. Where the whole scene changes. . . Owen stops screaming and is laughing and playing because he's "Big" he's taking a shower. :)
On the Lily front. She is mobile her favorite thing to do is walk straight at the stairs and then turn right when she's about to plunge down them and I am bolting to save her life. And what does she do when she turns, throws her head back and laughs at me for once again believing that she would just walk down the stairs. She's 13 months old and a smart aleck. She has had her walking accidents so I am not crazy for jumping at her. We keep the kids books under the TV and she wanted to be big and without sitting down pick up a book. Yup, wham straight into the TV stand perfect square bruise dead center on her forehead. If that wasn't bad enough we were visiting with Great-Grandma Porter and Owen 'had to go potty' this was before the amazing stool softeners. She had to follow him to the bathroom and somehow (Chet was in there not me) she slipped and hit her head on the toilet. Forehead to cheek bone bruise, a nice round one to accentuate her face.
As for me and Chet were old. As I blog this at 10 pm I am thinking why am I not in bed. The past week we'd put the kids to bed and go downstairs and at 9 Chet would be laying on the floor with a pillow and blanket and look at me all blood shot saying he wants to go to bed. Our kids have made us so old. I wake up every morning at 7 and the kids get up at 7:30 I'm afraid to even move thinking they know I'm awake any noise I make will alert them and I'll have to go make breakfast. Yes it's the job I signed on for and I trained them to wake-up and within a half an hour have breakfast in front of them but goodness can't we take a day off and wake up at 8 or heaven forbid 9. Owen was up new years til 1:30 am we were at a friends house the next morning he was up at 8. It didn't even phase him. I was toast, we had cold cereal for breakfast and snuggled on the couch cause I didn't want to move :)

Phone update
Well, for right now all my calls are being forwarded to Chet's phone and if he goes to work he leaves it with us since he can still call from there. I bought a phone on ebay and made sure that the post said fully functional before I bought it. Hopefully it will be here by Wednesday and we can go on with life as we know it.

My poor phone
My phone has been on the verge of dying for a few weeks now. Chet's phone has been this way for a couple of months but the children think my phone is a play thing. So today after I had made a phone call I put it on the ledge to keep it away from Lily (who likes to crawl with it open in her hand) and didn't think twice about it. I put Lily down for her nap and went on the computer to check email and so forth when I heard terrible words being uttered from Owen's mouth. Oh no, momma phone broken. Usually this mean that they accidentally turned it off. I turned around to see him holding the screen in one hand and the buttons in another. There are wires hanging out of both ends. To make it even better I can't do anything at Alltel to fix it because the account is in Chet's name, and he isn't off until Friday. For those who entertain me on long days on the phone I'll miss you until we solve this problem. :(

She walks!!!
Much to my surprise I was getting ready to go to an enrichment planning meeting and Lily walked across the living room. Her biggest move before this was 4 steps that she did while Anna and Ben were here. Of course I ran for the camera so everyone could have the same joy that we did.

Routine
Everyone tells you when you have kids it makes life so much easier if you get them on a routine. I completely believe this to be true especially since Lily can tell us what to do most days. At night if Chet is working we get dinner ready so that he can take some with him and we sit and eat as he is getting his last minute stuff together. (Having the kids occupied with food insures that the stuff that goes in his bag and lunch stay there.) Before Daddy leaves he gives everyone kisses. Owen better see daddy kiss everyone or he follows dad around telling him he needs to go back and kiss whoever he missed.
When dinner is done we go downstairs and play for a half hour to forty-five minutes before we start getting ready for bed. Owen even though he can't tell time between 6:55 and 7:05 will tell me its time for bath. When someone says bath Lily heads for the stairs. We go upstairs and Lily will crawl to the bathroom and stand by the tub and do a little dance until she can get in. When you get her out of the tub she'll crawl to the living room and sit there until she is in her PJ's. When she is dressed and her hair is combed she'll go to Owen's room where we read and say prayers. Once his door is open she goes to her room crawls around her crib to find her pacifier and is ready for bed without a complaint (unless hippo isn't there to snuggle with then she puts up a fuss until we find hippo).
Then there is Owen who realizes that he can draw out going to bed with odd questions and trips to the bathroom. Here are some of the amazing things he comes up with to keep me in his room. . .
1. Can I have a cookie?
2. Can you turn off Debbie's (our neighbor has an outside light near Owen's window that is only on maybe once every 2 weeks) light?
3. Can we give Lily more kisses?
4. Can I have new underwear (he believes they need to be changed every 5 minutes)?
5. Can I eat dinner? (If you know Owen it's impossible to get him to eat dinner the first time let alone a second.)
Then after all the questions are over we still have one more trip to the bathroom even though he went before he got in the tub, after he got out of the tub, while I was getting Lily dressed, and after we put Lily to bed. AMAZING!!!

As for the children. . .
Baby number 3 is brewing nicely and still giving me hard times. We find out April 7th if it's a boy or a girl. Grandma's are both saying girl and me and Chet both expect a boy. Especially since we can't agree on any girls names.
Lily is changing so much, and she is full of spunk. Her favorite book is the Sesame Beginnings book Bubbles Bubbles. It basically says bubbles a million times and names body parts. She'll bring me the book and the whole time she's crawling over with it she's saying bubble bubble bubble, then when I start to read it she laughs because of course bubbles are so funny. I am officially mamamamamama she hasn't figured out that she can stop and Chet is dedededededede. She will only stop saying dedededede when he picks her up and she usually wants to be immediately put back down. I think she just wants to be acknowledged and shes good. She has taken her first step and she can do 4 before she falls or sits down. I'm hoping she figures it out soon because goodness shes getting old.
Owen is my big boy it's amazing how many words he knows. You try to get them to speak early in life and you don't realized in 2 years your just going to want them to stop talking for 5 minutes so you can think. His favorite thing in the world right now is blocks. He loves building towers and Lily loves knocking them over. He believes he knows the best toys for Lily to play with so he switches what she has all the time and she yells at him until he fixes it. We are also having gate issues. He can now get over or through all the gates we have and he loves to sit at the desk and play on the computer.

UPDATE!!!!
I know, I know it's been AWHILE! Life has been pretty crazy here after my last blog Anna was coming to visit so we packed up to go to Park City for an overnighter. It was a crazy morning trying to get Chet in for an eye appointment and we had a slow leak in one of our tires so I took it to Walmart so I could get the tire fixed and do our last minute shopping. I timed it perfectly and got all my shopping done by the time they got the tire done. Amazingly we left by noon.
We told Anna we'd give her a call when we got to Brigham City because it was about an hour away from SLC. We did give her a call at 2:30 to tell her we got to Brigham City but we also had just hit something laying in the road and it popped 2 tires. So we had to put a spare on one and get fix a flat for the other. We were only an exit away from the Brigham City Walmart so we hoped to have it all done quickly and be back on the road.
We got to the Walmart and the tire guy was still on lunch. When he got back it took him an hour to realize he was an idiot and couldn't fix the tire and he didn't have one to replace it. So we were sent to Les Schwab to get a tire and were in and out in 20 minutes. I wish we would have known that was there. SO we were very late to meet Anna and Ben. We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner and Owen sat for ten minutes with his arm over his head and he wouldn't talk to anyone. When his pancake arrived he felt no one was out to get him and ate and played with the little toys they had on the tables. Needless to say even though me, Chet and the kids were in the same room no one had any issues getting to sleep that night.
The next morning Chet and Ben went snow boarding and the rest of us went power shopping!!! It was outlet heaven. The $2.99 sale was one at the Children's Place, we had coupons to every children's store there. We made out like bandits. After 4 and 1/2 hours, a trip to McDonald's, bribery of Mrs. Fields cookies and a sucker we were done. We bought $1050 worth of clothes. Did we spend that much NEVER!!! We paid $300, spilt 3 ways. It felt great I spent $100 and Lily has clothes till next year and Owen got a few things. Next year I am going back again but without children because Owen totally got left out because I don't like slogan shirts, or sport team shirts, ripped pants or ultra preppy wear (we thought it looked like we were going to take the kids yachting).
After an eventful day we went home and had a peaceful weekend until Ben got sick on Monday and Anna got sick on Tuesday. The only thing I can explain it by was a couple other families at church got sick Sunday night and Ben had gone for a hall walk during sacrament and he must have encountered them.
