We moved it again. . . .

If anyone knows the difficulties with our TV location you'll laugh now. Chet has wanted the TV and toys downstairs since we moved here. I have not wanted that stuff down here because the office area was free game to the kids and going up and down over and over. Well Chet finally won. We had a hot day and downstairs was still pleasant and upstairs was blazing. It was probably just 70 but with 2 kids, having to hold Lily it was over I wanted to stay cool. We now have worlds longest gate up again (thanks gene and lisa) and Owen is now bound and determined to get over it.

New Floor

I forgot the main event of the PorterHouse this week. We finally set out to start the basement project and wanted to buy some drywall so we were going to take some measurements and to our surprise our upstairs bathroom was leaking into the unfinished downstairs one. So against our timetable which is how home improvement projects are supposed to go I've found out we replaced the bathroom floor. Nothing fancy just a vinyl sheet floor but it amazingly without trying looks better then the old peel and stick blue 'marble' tile floor.

Oh the pain . . .

Being a stay at home mom with a newborn you expect long days and long nights but sometimes you just pray for a break. Last night was one of those nights I prayed that I might be able to get some sleep. Lily usually sleeps until around 2 but this time she slept until 3 . . . but instead of awakening to her crying it was Owen screaming. He is getting his 2 year old molars. It's not a very happy experience for him. His screams woke his sister, who knows she could have slept longer. I fed her thinking Owen would calm down. It didn't work out, him screaming kept Lily awake so we all laid together in bed. . . (since of course Chet was at work for the hard night). Yes I did get to sleep until 3 but I think tonight instead of sleep I'll pray for a peaceful night.

Day 5

Usually by day four of Chet working I'm about ready to pull my hair out and I am counting down the minutes until I hear the whirrr of the garage door opening, but there has been a lot of over time at work so we are now on day 5. I think I may go nuts. Luckily we have errands to run today and we won't be in the house all day.

If church wasn't interesting enough already going by yourself with 2 kids under two you start to receive pity. I heard a lot of, oh flying solo today. . . chet's working today I'm sorry . . . but we all trudge on. Especially when Lily spit up on the Sunday school teacher, passed wind during the prayer and then sang with all her little heart during the Relief Society lesson. By the way what would you do with a baby that's not crying but is happily so loud?

Mother's Day

Waking up Mother's Day morning I thought it would completely suck because it was going to be the first time I got the kids to church on time without Chet which meant I was going to have to battle sacrament meeting by myself. Amazingly Owen sat on my lap almost the whole time and colored or read his truck book. And ate snacks . . . lots and lots of snacks. Then went to nursery without a hitch. So I had a peaceful church time came home everyone took a nap and then went to Gene and Lisa's for a BBQ. It was really nice. Then we came home and went to bed. But the greatest part was I got a freezer. Yes that probably sounds like the dumbest present ever but I wanted it soooo bad. It is back ordered until June 4th but it's better knowing that I finally don't have to stack things and unstack every time I want to make dinner. Yippee!

Count down to Cali!!

We have a month until our trip to California to visit with my family and I know I'm excited. The kids are to young to know what they are in for. I'm hoping they sleep most of the way there if not were trying to find things for distraction. So if anyone has any surefire in the car entertainment for a 2 year old tell us.

Happy Mother's Day tomorrow to all the mother's out there.
