Lil Bug
Our little Lily is vain. She knows she's pretty and she wants to hear she's pretty, (especially from daddy). Today we were getting ready for the day and after she got out of the shower (yes, the shower she has found a deep appreciation for the shower and I appreciate that there is far less water on my bathroom floor) I asked her if she wanted pig tails or curls. She said, "Curls, curls pretty." And well lets face it now that Mommy has taken the intense time to figure out how to do the curls it is much easier then anything else. Lily then runs into the living room for her hair basket and we sit down. I comb her hair and she pulled out the mousse and said, "Mousse please" Okay we did the mousse then she pulled out her hair spray hands it to me and says, "Mom I cover my eyes." We do the hair spray and then she frantically looks through the basket and looks at me very distraught and says, "MOM, WHERE'S MY BOW?" Of course we promptly run to her room were she informs me that she must pick it and puts in her pink polka dotted bow. After this wondrous charade she says, 'I go look in the mirror.' We go to my room for the full length mirror and I asked "Are you pretty?" her reply with a smile, "Yup, I pretty!"

Princess for a Day
Lily just had her 2nd birthday and to celebrate she got to be a princess for a day. (If you ask her she's always a princess but she got extra special treatment for her birthday. She started her day with a luxurious bubble bath that was untainted by anyones presence. This is the only smiling picture I got of her since she was having to much fun to even look at me.
She also got a princess jewelry kit that had a crown, necklace and earrings. Well the picture explains it all. . .
Owen had a lot of fun with it much to his fathers dismay. We won't tell him that Owen always puts on the heels and runs around the house when he's not home.
We had a princess cake but the only pictures I have of it our on my mother in laws camera so those will have to wait. It was made with the help of Desi Richards a cake decorator in our ward. It was delicious. So moist, so sweet it was the first cake at a Porter family gathering that was completely eaten.
We also did the Porter snow party with Lily's birthday and the kids had a blast. Well, Taylor had no clue it was a snow party because she was inside the whole time but Owen and Lily stayed outside for hours without whining or anything. When asked if they wanted to come inside though they both said yes without question and never asked to go out again.

Runt of the Litter
We had Taylors '6 month' check up today. It's a little early but I forgot the four month check up so we kind of averaged it out.
At six months:
Owen was 26.5 inches tall and 19 pounds.
Lily was 26 inches tall and 18 pounds.
Taylor is 25 inches tall and 13 pounds.
She is the first Porter baby to ever achieve 25% in weight. The Dr. even commented that he thought Owen and Lily were a bit rounder then Taylor. The most important thing however is she is happy and healthy. I love it when the Dr. says watch out for her getting into things soon and Owen and Lily giving her choking hazards. My one shock however was the car seat requirements have changed again and babies/toddlers are supposed to be rear facing until they grow out of a rear facing booster or 2 years. I'm not excited about this one because my kids have always wants to turn around although it will face her towards Owen and Lily longer so maybe they will provide entertainment.
The Lights of Christmas
In all my Christmas posts I forgot to mention the Christmas excitement. We put the tree up as a family, Owen and Lily helped decorate it which meant for a while we only had ornaments on the bottom but as they insisted on playing with them they got moved to the top. We felt pretty confident that all had gone well and our kids were old enough, or well behaved enough not to terrorize the surroundings. For about two weeks all seemed well and good and Lily got sick. Her nose was running so bad it was in need of suction. I put her in the tub let her play and then went to clean up her nose. I used Q-tips, the aspirator, tweezers nothing would come out of her nose. I called Chet and asked him if he had noticed Lily putting anything up her nose and he said he had seen her trying to shove a full baby wipe in there so I flipped her over and looked in and thought oh no shes shoved a baby wipe up her nose and I can't get it out. I over-react and call her pediatrician who is still in the office for another 30 minutes. Drop Owen and Taylor off at my wonderful friend Mel's house and try to beat the clock to the Doctors office. We get called back and as I am sitting in the quiet doctors office I hear whistling coming from Lily's nose, this proved it she did stick a wipe up there. The doctor comes in with extraction tools and a nurse and we hold her down and this is the conversation that follows . . .
Doctor: Well, there is definitely something up there.
Nurse: Oh I see it it's white.
Me: My husband did say he saw her shoving baby wipes up there.
Doctor: I can't seem to grasp it.
Nurse: It looks almost plastic.
(In horror she pulls a centimeter white object out of Lily's nose crusted in snot)
Lily: You did it!
Me: What is that?
Doctor: I don't know.
(The nurse wipes it off)
Doctor: Oh my gosh its a Christmas Light! That's a first!
What a night, thank goodness for overreacting!

Follow those little promptings . . .
For about a week now I have been thinking of calling my friend Kristy see how she's doing, sadly what originally prompted this feeling was she didn't comment back to a joke I posted on her farm on Facebook. Trying to find a quiet moment to call her wasn't finding itself when a day in the life here consists of pure craziness. Well it got pushed aside until I found a moment in todays hectic schedule to finally send a text message. It paid off until I realized that her wedding that in my head was next year was really this year and in a few weeks. Thinking back to our conversation when I was prego and she was telling me this wonderful news she did say next March. For some reason that didn't translate correctly.
I have been planning our family vacation to California for a year now I love going to California to see them and show of my gorgeous children. It has been planned for April because I wanted to go to Big Hat Day. For those that are from Clovis you know Big Hat Day for those not from Clovis it is when everyone in Clovis converges on the street behind my parents house and it a huge craft fair, rodeo everything Hick you can think of. Growing up it was great because we could go whenever we wanted you opened the windows and you would here country music loud and proud. And the food was everything BBQ you could hope for and more. We however will miss this because our vacation has become wedding hopping :) My wonderful husband has agreed to driving to Provo for Karly's wedding on the 6th and then continuing on to California where we will see my family for a week and then attend another wedding on the 13th. It may seem crazy but I am just glad that we can do everything. And with it all bunched together like that it's only 1 huge vacation not 3 little ones and maybe we can do even more this next year. Although I think we will pass out for the end of March and will see people again in April.

Santa Claus
We made 2 visits to the Good man up north this Christmas Season and well they didn't quite go as we would like and they didn't even go how we expected. We knew Taylor wouldn't care because well she's to little to understand stranger danger. Lily we knew would freak out completely because she even freaks out still around people she obviously knows. Our surprise was Owen. He saw Santa standing in a parking lot and was super duper excited wanted to go see him. Just gabbing all the way into the store about Santa and this is what we got . . .
Christmas (a few weeks late)
Christmas at the Porter House was very eventful. We spoiled our kids rotten this year but it was mostly due to poor organizing. I didn't realize until I had everything under the tree that I saw how much we really had done. After we had torn through all the wrapping paper cleaned up all the mess of course our children had the fav's that are now the most carried around of the whole lot.
Okay, I know Taylor can't possibly carry toys at this point but she mainly got things for Christmas because Owen and Lily want her to have things. They want her to play with toys, run and play, basically do all the things that she'll be able too soon.
Lily got this wonderful bear that scared the Dicken's out of her. Chet pulled it from the box and she reacted as if it were real and that I was about to attack if she didn't back away slowly and keep eye contact. She now of course loves the thing and uses it as a mattress.
Booty (aka Woody) and Buzz are a very popular bunch in our house. We can't wait until Toy Story 3 comes out right before Owens birthday. We even watch Buzz Lightyear Star Command the spin off movie. To top things off Owen has Buzz Lightyear underwear and when he wears them he puts on his cape (so he can fly too) and runs around screaming Buzz Lightyear to the RESCUE!!! To infinity and beyond!!!

I try and try. . . .
I wanted to do a post and catch up all that I have left out but well its not working so I will pick a picture and work from there.
This was our Christmas Card picture. Owen always so cute. Taylor showing us she had just learned how fun it is to smile. Then party pooper Lily who doesn't smile for a camera even if her life depends on it. We get fake smiles or shes about to talk and it looks like a smile.
If you didn't get a Christmas card I am sorry I found a stack last week the didn't make it. I'm sorry. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
