It's OUT!!!

If you've heard and doubt or you just haven't heard anything yet it's true the Porterhouse is expecting! Yes, I know this is the moment you laugh at our expense and put out a few jokes but I don't care to hear them. Laugh without us, because we are happy. We are excited and your jokes are all dumb and over used. Now that I have gotten that out . . . .

We are due in August, the 27th, (which means nothing when is comes to when well see this baby Lily was 2 and a half weeks early) and it's going to be a crazy month with our anniversary on the 12th, Chet's birthday on the 17th, and my birthday on the 20th. And that's not counting Grandpa Baltezore's birthday, Nancy, Jace, Janessa . . . sorry if I'm forgetting anybody.

We tried to keep this one a secret to see how far we could go without anyone finding out and we actually made it 9 weeks until Barbara found my nausea pills and the news travelled fast.

That's the newest news from us Have a great week!

Ode to January

To me January has always been one of those pass through months. If you can make it through January, you can get through the rest of the year. Owen blessed us the other night with vomiting. It's not like our family has not been around vomiting we are actually quite immune to it by now, someone vomits and it's like oh go get the bucket and start the washer. This time it was interesting because I think Owen actually wanted to vomit in the toilet but we weren't getting the message. He kept saying potty but he wouldn't take off his pants. So finally we got him to calm down and lay down on his back and he vomited like a fountain. Lily was screaming, Owen was screaming we had to give him a bath but he always takes baths with Lily so he wanted her with him. So Chet cleaned him up so that he wouldn't be dripping in vomit in the tub with his sister. Then when he got out of the tub he leaned over the toilet and started making vomiting noises and that's when I realized that was his original goal. Maybe next time.

Now is the countdown to tax time. Growing up with parents working at the IRS we always knew tax time was April 15th heck even Sarah got married that day. We also never understood why people dreaded it, or didn't do there taxes on time. It's crazy. But I grew up in a family where refunds abound. And this year I imagine will be no different. Super duper excited!!! It's already spent in my head like every other year. This year is no different especially with our unfinished house. we want to finish it this year so we will have a beautiful master bedroom and 2 bathrooms finished and functional. That's all I want from my refund is that asking to much? Oh and were going to add a fence and gates so that Houdini Owen who like to try to run away has no where to go but the back yard! Yippie!

Happy 2009!!!

I can't believe it's 2009. Chet and I were registering a game online and we had to scroll down to 1982 for Chet's birthday and we felt so old. Then we laughed and imagined how our kids are going to act when they realize mom and dad were born in the 80's. Oh goodness.

To our surprised and that of many other who know us we stayed up until midnight to ring in the New Year. We decided to get Guitar Hero World Tour for Chet's Playstation and I think it has already paid for itself in hours of entertainment. The game comes with a guitar (obviously), but it also includes a drum set and microphone. So who knew we bought a karaoke machine for Christmas :). At first no one wanted to use the microphone but as it got later we started jamming! With 4 kids it was interesting although Lily was an angel and went to bed at 8 like normal. What a blessing. The only reason we knew it was midnight was because someone down the street lit fireworks. So we paused for a moment kissed our respective spouses and started jamming again.

The countdown also begins for Chet's LASIK surgery. The place where we want to get its done took a 2 week holiday break so I have to wait until Monday to try to get everything scheduled. Which if you know me is just killing me because I want to have everything planned way in advance. Were trying to get it so that Chet's parents can come up and play with the kids while I take him in. We'll see how that goes.

And who can believe it Tiger Lily is 11 months old! I can't. I still want her to be my little baby that wants to snuggle. But she doesn't like to snuggle anymore. She can now pull herself up to standing with just about anything. I was standing in the kitchen and much to my surprise I had felt her pulling on my leg I didn't realize she had gotten up that way. She is still a little bit off from walking but she's cruising and she finally crawls on all fours instead of dragging her body behind her. She's so big.

Owen is still getting into everything humanly possible. Chet got me an indoor exercise trampoline for Christmas and I think Owen has used it much more then me Christmas day he was drenched in sweat because he just couldn't pull himself away. Oh and when we play guitar hero he takes the microphone and sings Twinkle Twinkle with all his little heart. It's adorable.

Beautiful Baby

I have been in a scrapbooking phase. It's fun but I hadn't found anything exciting to scrap about Lily until I found this quote, "You've got the cutest baby face." It was PERFECT, because Lily does have the cutest little face ever. I know I biased because I'm the momma but she just makes you want to kiss her everyday. Even as a 10 month old she's got such personality. When daddy comes home from work she just throws her arms up in the air and starts talking as fast as she can to get his attention so he will pick her up. It's adorable.

So cute and girlie. I love it. Christmas is flying towards us and I can't wait til Wednesday night when we can actually put presents under the tree. 5 more days!!!

Gingerbread

This holiday season because Owen is getting to a fun age where we can do more we have been trying to add some more fun and serious into Christmas. This is going to be our first Christmas staying a home to open presents and Owen is already excited, which makes me excited because the last 2 years he has been to little to understand presents and wrapping paper. He has helped me wrap presents, he is in charge of the tape so there are always a few extra pieces here and there.

We decorated a Gingerbread house. It was my first time and Owens as well. It went so much better then I imagined it. For $10 we had a wonderful family evening. Owen actually wanted to decorate and he would tell me where things were going to go. He only licked his fingers and when a candy wouldn't stick where he wanted it to he would lick it and try again. Here is the finished product.

It was loads of fun. We have also started reading scriptures as a family with the Family Book of Mormon from Deseret Book. Owen loves the pictures and it breaks down the chapters into easy to handle sections for the kids. Every night before we go to bed Owen gets excited to get the story, which weighs so much that it's funny to see him carry it. After we read its time to say prayers and he doesn't understand why Lily gets to play and he has to fold him arms and be good. I hope that the little things we do now stick for the long run.

Snow

Growing up in California we didn't have many chances for snow days so it's fun to see Owen loving it so much. He used to walk outside look at it and then go in but now that we've pulled out the snow gear he's been making bum prints and digging in it. We can only go out when Lily is taking a nap because she is against the whole idea of cold but its fun because that is a fun alone time with Owen.

Here we go again. . .

My goal for this month was to blog more to keep everyone up to date but well sickness overcame the Porterhouse after Thanksgiving and I have been covered in snot for days now. Owen I finally getting better, Lily was wheezing yesterday but it's gone today and I finally got a chance to sleep mine off the last 2 days and feel so much better.

Lily is getting so much better at crawling and Owen has realized that she can get to everything and is trying to find a place where he can play without her. She won't have it and has developed a whine when he runs away from her. It's kind of funny to watch.

This years Christmas card wasn't going to have a picture due to the colds but we were playing in front of the tree the other night and I got the best picture of Owen and Lily so it had to be the Christmas card picture. Thank you photo shop because I was able to edit out the glistening snot from under their noses. The first few made it out today and hopefully I will gather the rest of the addresses soon.

Merry December!!!!

Thanksgiving

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone and it was very thrilling. Lily now has her bottom teeth after what seems like years of waiting. And with those teeth came the ability to army crawl. She is finally on the move. She is still quite frustrated with the fact that it isn't efficient but she on her way.

As those who were with us saw potty training went on pause for Thanksgiving but the second we were home again we were in full swing he hasn't had any accidents since Grandma Porters house. We even had a breakthrough this morning Owen woke up at 6:30 am went to the bathroom and went back to bed until almost 7:30! I was so excited.

As every Porter family gathering goes my kids came home with colds and Lily is miserable. She barely slept last night which meant we barely slept last night. And since the FDA says that babies don't benefit from cold medicine and parents overdosed and killed there kids there is really nothing I can do for her which is very annoying. Hopefully she gets better soon.

Oh and we did go day after Thanksgiving shopping there were no deaths at the Walmart we were at but people were crazy enough to break the glass case housing the video games.

Back on track

I finally started scrapping again after a long pause. I overloaded myself last time and now here we are. I started this page and then realize how late it was closed it without saving and I was so mad because i had edited pictures and everything and didn't save a thing. So I started it again and the page was the wrong size so here is the third draft of Lily.

Isn't she so cute. She could be in the worst mood and then you put her in water and she is all smiles.
