My poor phone

My phone has been on the verge of dying for a few weeks now. Chet's phone has been this way for a couple of months but the children think my phone is a play thing. So today after I had made a phone call I put it on the ledge to keep it away from Lily (who likes to crawl with it open in her hand) and didn't think twice about it. I put Lily down for her nap and went on the computer to check email and so forth when I heard terrible words being uttered from Owen's mouth. Oh no, momma phone broken. Usually this mean that they accidentally turned it off. I turned around to see him holding the screen in one hand and the buttons in another. There are wires hanging out of both ends. To make it even better I can't do anything at Alltel to fix it because the account is in Chet's name, and he isn't off until Friday. For those who entertain me on long days on the phone I'll miss you until we solve this problem. :(

She walks!!!

Much to my surprise I was getting ready to go to an enrichment planning meeting and Lily walked across the living room. Her biggest move before this was 4 steps that she did while Anna and Ben were here. Of course I ran for the camera so everyone could have the same joy that we did.

Routine

Everyone tells you when you have kids it makes life so much easier if you get them on a routine. I completely believe this to be true especially since Lily can tell us what to do most days. At night if Chet is working we get dinner ready so that he can take some with him and we sit and eat as he is getting his last minute stuff together. (Having the kids occupied with food insures that the stuff that goes in his bag and lunch stay there.) Before Daddy leaves he gives everyone kisses. Owen better see daddy kiss everyone or he follows dad around telling him he needs to go back and kiss whoever he missed.

When dinner is done we go downstairs and play for a half hour to forty-five minutes before we start getting ready for bed. Owen even though he can't tell time between 6:55 and 7:05 will tell me its time for bath. When someone says bath Lily heads for the stairs. We go upstairs and Lily will crawl to the bathroom and stand by the tub and do a little dance until she can get in. When you get her out of the tub she'll crawl to the living room and sit there until she is in her PJ's. When she is dressed and her hair is combed she'll go to Owen's room where we read and say prayers. Once his door is open she goes to her room crawls around her crib to find her pacifier and is ready for bed without a complaint (unless hippo isn't there to snuggle with then she puts up a fuss until we find hippo).

Then there is Owen who realizes that he can draw out going to bed with odd questions and trips to the bathroom. Here are some of the amazing things he comes up with to keep me in his room. . .

1. Can I have a cookie?

2. Can you turn off Debbie's (our neighbor has an outside light near Owen's window that is only on maybe once every 2 weeks) light?

3. Can we give Lily more kisses?

4. Can I have new underwear (he believes they need to be changed every 5 minutes)?

5. Can I eat dinner? (If you know Owen it's impossible to get him to eat dinner the first time let alone a second.)

Then after all the questions are over we still have one more trip to the bathroom even though he went before he got in the tub, after he got out of the tub, while I was getting Lily dressed, and after we put Lily to bed. AMAZING!!!

As for the children. . .

Baby number 3 is brewing nicely and still giving me hard times. We find out April 7th if it's a boy or a girl. Grandma's are both saying girl and me and Chet both expect a boy. Especially since we can't agree on any girls names.

Lily is changing so much, and she is full of spunk. Her favorite book is the Sesame Beginnings book Bubbles Bubbles. It basically says bubbles a million times and names body parts. She'll bring me the book and the whole time she's crawling over with it she's saying bubble bubble bubble, then when I start to read it she laughs because of course bubbles are so funny. I am officially mamamamamama she hasn't figured out that she can stop and Chet is dedededededede. She will only stop saying dedededede when he picks her up and she usually wants to be immediately put back down. I think she just wants to be acknowledged and shes good. She has taken her first step and she can do 4 before she falls or sits down. I'm hoping she figures it out soon because goodness shes getting old.

Owen is my big boy it's amazing how many words he knows. You try to get them to speak early in life and you don't realized in 2 years your just going to want them to stop talking for 5 minutes so you can think. His favorite thing in the world right now is blocks. He loves building towers and Lily loves knocking them over. He believes he knows the best toys for Lily to play with so he switches what she has all the time and she yells at him until he fixes it. We are also having gate issues. He can now get over or through all the gates we have and he loves to sit at the desk and play on the computer.

UPDATE!!!!

I know, I know it's been AWHILE! Life has been pretty crazy here after my last blog Anna was coming to visit so we packed up to go to Park City for an overnighter. It was a crazy morning trying to get Chet in for an eye appointment and we had a slow leak in one of our tires so I took it to Walmart so I could get the tire fixed and do our last minute shopping. I timed it perfectly and got all my shopping done by the time they got the tire done. Amazingly we left by noon.

We told Anna we'd give her a call when we got to Brigham City because it was about an hour away from SLC. We did give her a call at 2:30 to tell her we got to Brigham City but we also had just hit something laying in the road and it popped 2 tires. So we had to put a spare on one and get fix a flat for the other. We were only an exit away from the Brigham City Walmart so we hoped to have it all done quickly and be back on the road.

We got to the Walmart and the tire guy was still on lunch. When he got back it took him an hour to realize he was an idiot and couldn't fix the tire and he didn't have one to replace it. So we were sent to Les Schwab to get a tire and were in and out in 20 minutes. I wish we would have known that was there. SO we were very late to meet Anna and Ben. We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner and Owen sat for ten minutes with his arm over his head and he wouldn't talk to anyone. When his pancake arrived he felt no one was out to get him and ate and played with the little toys they had on the tables. Needless to say even though me, Chet and the kids were in the same room no one had any issues getting to sleep that night.

The next morning Chet and Ben went snow boarding and the rest of us went power shopping!!! It was outlet heaven. The $2.99 sale was one at the Children's Place, we had coupons to every children's store there. We made out like bandits. After 4 and 1/2 hours, a trip to McDonald's, bribery of Mrs. Fields cookies and a sucker we were done. We bought $1050 worth of clothes. Did we spend that much NEVER!!! We paid $300, spilt 3 ways. It felt great I spent $100 and Lily has clothes till next year and Owen got a few things. Next year I am going back again but without children because Owen totally got left out because I don't like slogan shirts, or sport team shirts, ripped pants or ultra preppy wear (we thought it looked like we were going to take the kids yachting).

After an eventful day we went home and had a peaceful weekend until Ben got sick on Monday and Anna got sick on Tuesday. The only thing I can explain it by was a couple other families at church got sick Sunday night and Ben had gone for a hall walk during sacrament and he must have encountered them.

So many things . . .

As we all know pregnancy is a bear to me so the fact I haven't blogged is due to me not wanting to sit at the computer and having to jump the baby gate if I need to puke. Sorry for the vivid details it only gets better. :)

So Lily turned 1!!! She is so big now. She is 22 lbs and 30 inches. Chet took her to the appointment and he came home and told me she was 30lbs I searched for the sticker that they give us that tells the right measurements because I don't think she weighs as much as Owen. But shes good. Growing just fine. She still doesn't want to walk on her own but she can run if you give her a toy with wheels to hang on to. Owen wants her to learn to walk to so everyday he gets out her walker for her and when she starts to move he takes it away. If this wasn't so sad and funny all at the same time.

Valentines Day was wonderful. We spent the morning at the emergency room (don't worry I'm just fine) but it got Chet to stay home from work. he got up with the kids in the morning and made breakfast and he got me a rose, Owen a balloon and a sucker, and Lily a stuffed puppy dog. It was a great day.

Chet had LASIK this last Thursday and he can now see perfectly we are so glad. After paying that much he better see perfect for a good long time. That's the latest and greatest!

Our BIG helper

I forgot to post this funny story about Owen, I needed to get it out. Owen when he's not getting into things he really loves to help around the house. He sets the table, sometimes he clears it but he moves a little to fast with full plates so it can get messy. One day we were all in the basement and I thought Lily stunk so I asked Chet to check her bum. Owen jumped up and went over the Lily and tried to check her bum but she was wearing overalls and a onesie so he couldn't get to it. He just looked at me shrugged his shoulders and moved on. Too cute.

It's OUT!!!

If you've heard and doubt or you just haven't heard anything yet it's true the Porterhouse is expecting! Yes, I know this is the moment you laugh at our expense and put out a few jokes but I don't care to hear them. Laugh without us, because we are happy. We are excited and your jokes are all dumb and over used. Now that I have gotten that out . . . .

We are due in August, the 27th, (which means nothing when is comes to when well see this baby Lily was 2 and a half weeks early) and it's going to be a crazy month with our anniversary on the 12th, Chet's birthday on the 17th, and my birthday on the 20th. And that's not counting Grandpa Baltezore's birthday, Nancy, Jace, Janessa . . . sorry if I'm forgetting anybody.

We tried to keep this one a secret to see how far we could go without anyone finding out and we actually made it 9 weeks until Barbara found my nausea pills and the news travelled fast.

That's the newest news from us Have a great week!

Ode to January

To me January has always been one of those pass through months. If you can make it through January, you can get through the rest of the year. Owen blessed us the other night with vomiting. It's not like our family has not been around vomiting we are actually quite immune to it by now, someone vomits and it's like oh go get the bucket and start the washer. This time it was interesting because I think Owen actually wanted to vomit in the toilet but we weren't getting the message. He kept saying potty but he wouldn't take off his pants. So finally we got him to calm down and lay down on his back and he vomited like a fountain. Lily was screaming, Owen was screaming we had to give him a bath but he always takes baths with Lily so he wanted her with him. So Chet cleaned him up so that he wouldn't be dripping in vomit in the tub with his sister. Then when he got out of the tub he leaned over the toilet and started making vomiting noises and that's when I realized that was his original goal. Maybe next time.

Now is the countdown to tax time. Growing up with parents working at the IRS we always knew tax time was April 15th heck even Sarah got married that day. We also never understood why people dreaded it, or didn't do there taxes on time. It's crazy. But I grew up in a family where refunds abound. And this year I imagine will be no different. Super duper excited!!! It's already spent in my head like every other year. This year is no different especially with our unfinished house. we want to finish it this year so we will have a beautiful master bedroom and 2 bathrooms finished and functional. That's all I want from my refund is that asking to much? Oh and were going to add a fence and gates so that Houdini Owen who like to try to run away has no where to go but the back yard! Yippie!

Happy 2009!!!

I can't believe it's 2009. Chet and I were registering a game online and we had to scroll down to 1982 for Chet's birthday and we felt so old. Then we laughed and imagined how our kids are going to act when they realize mom and dad were born in the 80's. Oh goodness.

To our surprised and that of many other who know us we stayed up until midnight to ring in the New Year. We decided to get Guitar Hero World Tour for Chet's Playstation and I think it has already paid for itself in hours of entertainment. The game comes with a guitar (obviously), but it also includes a drum set and microphone. So who knew we bought a karaoke machine for Christmas :). At first no one wanted to use the microphone but as it got later we started jamming! With 4 kids it was interesting although Lily was an angel and went to bed at 8 like normal. What a blessing. The only reason we knew it was midnight was because someone down the street lit fireworks. So we paused for a moment kissed our respective spouses and started jamming again.

The countdown also begins for Chet's LASIK surgery. The place where we want to get its done took a 2 week holiday break so I have to wait until Monday to try to get everything scheduled. Which if you know me is just killing me because I want to have everything planned way in advance. Were trying to get it so that Chet's parents can come up and play with the kids while I take him in. We'll see how that goes.

And who can believe it Tiger Lily is 11 months old! I can't. I still want her to be my little baby that wants to snuggle. But she doesn't like to snuggle anymore. She can now pull herself up to standing with just about anything. I was standing in the kitchen and much to my surprise I had felt her pulling on my leg I didn't realize she had gotten up that way. She is still a little bit off from walking but she's cruising and she finally crawls on all fours instead of dragging her body behind her. She's so big.

Owen is still getting into everything humanly possible. Chet got me an indoor exercise trampoline for Christmas and I think Owen has used it much more then me Christmas day he was drenched in sweat because he just couldn't pull himself away. Oh and when we play guitar hero he takes the microphone and sings Twinkle Twinkle with all his little heart. It's adorable.
